Remsa, a manufacturer of brake blocks, was established in 1970 in Pamplona, Spain, by three independent businessmen, including one from the USA. Production reached 1 million sets in 1981 and several expansion phases began, including the launch of a North American concern in 1992. In 1998 Remsa was acquired by Lucas Varity, which soon became TRW Automotive. Shortly thereafter, TRW began building a new production facility in Monterrey, Mexico, which now serves the United States of America. Today, brake spare parts from the Remsa catalogue are part of the TRW Automotive friction materials group.
Currently, Remsa operates seven production facilities in Spain and one in North America. Headquarters for North and South America, as well as the main distribution center are located in the Chicago area. In North America, the Remsa brand is better known under the RoadHouse trademark, which is produced at the TRW plant in Monterrey, Mexico. RoadHouse brake discs and blocks for Europe are manufactured at Remsa plants in Spain.
With 45 years of experience, the Spanish REMSA is now the global manufacturer in terms of braking systems for the automotive industry.
