Teamwork as a lifestyle: the story of Dmytro Nepokryty

Public speaking is always not easy, and when it comes to responsibility to the team and a large audience, the excitement only intensifies. Dmytro Nepokryty knows this from his own experience: his participation in the BBC corporate event was not only a new challenge, but also a valuable experience for him, because he and his colleagues took part not in a traditional BBC meeting, but in a real theatrical performance.

For Dmytro, this was the first such performance. He was among the best speakers, which was a surprise even for him. The recognition confirmed: sincerity, willingness to work on yourself and support from colleagues can give results even where you do not expect it.

He considered participation in the BBC as a team achievement, because every mistake could affect not only him, but also the entire team. It was this sense of collective responsibility that became the main driver of his concentration.

Preparing for the speech was a team effort: discussion, finding the right words, discarding unnecessary things. Colleagues helped each other so that the joint result turned out to be strong and holistic.

Dmytro recalls that the team was “adequate, sociable and ready to support”. And it was thanks to this atmosphere that he managed to overcome his anxiety and reach a level that impressed the audience.

Dmytro and his colleagues’ speech was different from the traditional ones. If individual readings and discussions of books usually take place at the BBC, this time there was a team presentation. It became something new and unconventional, which attracted additional attention.

Not the least role in Dmytro’s ability to cope with anxiety is played by sports. His experience in volleyball and football taught him to work in a team and control himself in stressful situations.

On the sports field, he was used to fighting to the end, supporting his partners and not letting the team down. It was these skills that he transferred to his speech at the BBC. Many years of training in volleyball and football taught him the main thing - the ability to breathe correctly and keep a rhythm. "Without proper breathing, you won't last long on the court," he says, and this experience came in handy during his performances. His team "Halychyna" has repeatedly won prizes in the Ukrainian championship, and in beach volleyball, Dmytro and his partner have been among the top three regional leaders for several years in a row.

The performance on the BBC became for Dmytro Nepokryty confirmation that team interaction can change the format of events and bring new experience. This is a story about how sport, work and humanity are combined in the character of a person who is not afraid of challenges and is always ready to move forward with the team.
