May 8 — Day of Remembrance and Victory over Nazism in World War II
This is a date that reminds us not only of the end of one of the most terrible pages in the history of mankind, but also of the price that was paid for freedom, dignity and the right to live without fear.
Today, these meanings sound especially acute, because we have once again found ourselves in a reality where peace is not something guaranteed, and freedom requires daily protection. Today's events force us to rethink the lessons of the past and better understand why the memory of World War II cannot remain just a page in a textbook.
Remembering the tragedies and feats of the past, we not only honor those who fought then, but also realize our own responsibility today — to preserve humanity, support each other and continue the fight for values that we once had to defend at an extremely high price.
This memory is not about the past for the sake of the past—it is about the strength that helps us survive in the present and shapes our future.
